SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Hello fans of Bushi, as you know originaly, the book was slated to be a six issue mini series. But, due to some family medical matters our production schedule was majorly impacted. And so, the series ended up being delayed almost by a year. Fortunatley, we managed to bring you issue two last summer which many fans had been clamoring for. And in an effort to reward the fans for their understanding and support, the decison was made to cut the series down to four issues. Thus, bringing the series closer to it's explosive finale. So, keep your eyes peeled for Bushi:Warrior Caste#3 this spring and the double sized finale due out later this year! Many thanks for your support and patience,Roberto A

{June'09 Update}Summer is here and the convention season is in full swing, however there have been some changes to our summer plans. Due to some circumstances beyond the control of Dark Elf Designs they will not be attending Wizard World Chicago. Which in turns means we won't either, but we are planning on appearing for sure in 2010. On a positive note, we will be attending the Midsummers Expo in Detroit this coming July and possibly one or two other conventions this summer. Speaking of conventions, the Motor City Comic Con was one of the funnest ones I've been to in awhile. Some of the high points of the weekend were being able to meet Taimak and Yancy Butler aka Sara Pezzini The Witchblade. And seeing and hanging out with several of our good friends as well as meeting loyal Bushi fans too. Shout out to my peeps, Tony Davis,Darryl Anderson Eddy Newell,Terrell Culbert,Stacy Stone,Brian Germain, Jawan Jordan,Gemma Keech,Randy Zimmerman,Derek Bailie,Norm Williams,Terry Huddleston. We had a great time and you can check it all out in the Motor City Comic Con 2009 photo album. In other news, Darryl Anderson and myself will be doing a book signing at BC Comix & Games in Fenton,MI this coming June 13th with fellow Dark Elf Design creators Brian Germain,Larry Lonsby,Gemma Keech,Randy Zimmerman;Brock Mizikow. We'll also have copies of Bushi:Warrior Caste#1-2 on hand as well as The Koto Files and the Night Predators preview. So if you happento be in the area feel free to drop in and check us all out. Until next time,Roberto A.
{May'09 Update}It's Free Comic Book Day!!! And what that means is that you can go to your local comic book shop and get some free comics. And possibly meet local creators or even characters from some of your favorite comic books. I myself went down to my local shop, Just 4 Fun and grabbed a few freebies, unfortunately I missed catching Darth Vader. Rumor has it, he was reading a few comic books too. Due to preparation for the Motor City Con, I didn't have the time to make plans to participate in FCBD at my local shop. Although some of my friends did in their respective communities. Dark Elfs' Brian Germain can be found at Comic Relief in Flint and Terrell Culbert ( Breathe Again Entertainment) is on hand at one of the local shops in the Detroit area today. I'll definetly have to try and make plans for next year. Now, as you all know the Motor City Comic Con is a mere 12 days away. And the entire Core Studios crew will be on hand for Saturdays show. Be sure to get your autographed copies of Bushi and the Night Predators Novi preview edition featuring variant covers by Roberto Armstrong and Tony Davis. We'll have some other goodies on hand as well as art work from some upcoming projects. You definetly do not want to miss this show, so come on down and check us out! Best,Roberto A
{April'09 Update}Spring is nearly here and so is the Motor City Comic Con, which is celebrating it's 20th anniversary. We are looking forward to this show as we'll have lots of new stuff on hand and a special gift for the fans for their ongoing patience and support;) Currently Bushi:Warrior Caste#3 is still in production and we'll be re-releasing Bushi:Warrior Caste#2 for the Motor City Con in it's place. And for those who missed a chance to pick it up at the last convention we attended. Be sure to pick up the Koto Files as it's a nice tie in to that very issue. On other fronts, we'll be debuting a Night Predators Novi preview edtion featuring two variant covers. A lilttle something for those that missed the X-cape Con preview. That said, it's time to get back to work. I'll see you all in 30! Roberto A
{March'09 Update}Well, it's March already and the convention season is off and running. Many of you have probably attended Megacon this weekend so if you have pics or stories to tell, please share them with us. And speaking of cons, Core Studios will be at Wizard World Chicago with our publisher Dark Elf Designs. We're definetly looking forward to returning to the windy city and seeing some old friends. And with the upcoming Motor City Con, the entire Core Studios crew will be in attendance with Tony Davis returning after a lengthy absence from the convention scene. So, be sure to stop by the booth to get your copies of Bushi autographed by the entire creative team! Until next time,Roberto A
{Febuary'09 Update}It's Super Bowl Sunday as I write this, so needless to say, this update will be brief. Things are progressing on issue 3 of Bushi:Warrior Caste and as promised I'll shed a li light on the previously mentioned Koto Files. Many have wondered what exactly is on the mysterious data disc that the Khoga ninja Kaori stole from Hidero Kotos office in issue one. Well, wonder no more as Core Studios brings you the goods this coming May! The Koto Files will give readers an inside look at Hidero Kotos views on his allies and enemies. There'll also be bonus material in the form of an indepth interview with series co-creator Roberto Armstrong on the world of Bushi, it's characters and the future of the title itself. Definetly something not to be missed! Until next time, Roberto A.
{January'09 Update}Happy New Year to all our fans and supporters!!! It's 2009 and we're hitting the ground running with new intensity. As you can see we've got a new color scheme to reflect that and the excitement we have for the new year. Core Studios has been involved with some other projects over the last three or four months with some of our friends. And you'll see some of what we've done in the coming months. This year will also see Bushi:Warrior Caste come to it's exciting conclusion, as it's wrapped up with a double sized finale with book four. But before that, there'll be a little something known as the Koto Files coming your way. More on that in the next update. And on the horizon we'll have the arrival of Night Predators which drops later this year tentatively followed by ShadowStorm. If you haven't gotten the Night Predators Preview which debuted at Xcape Con'08, no worries, we'll have copies at the upcoming Motor Ciy Comicon in May. In the meantime, be sure to check our forums regularly for more news as it develops on our various projects. Until next time, Roberto A

We'll have a new president bringing some positive changes about and the comic industry has a lot of new things coming out on the horizon. As do we here at Core Studios. We'll have some pretty cool stuff dropping in the upcoming months, Bushi:Warrior Caste#3, Night Predators, and the much anticipated ShadowStorm later in the year. Coupled with Kurt Anthony Krugs dark and gritty storytelling and Terrell Culberts HOT pencils, this is an absolute must have on your list of things to pick up at the show! {September'08 Update}Fall is upon us as the con season winds down for the year but there's at least one last big show before it's all said and done..Xcape Con 2! Due to other obligations we'll only be attending the first day of the show. But we'll also be debuting Night Predators in the form of a limited convention exclusive preview. One you definetly do not want to miss out on, as it'll be the first one ever for Xcape Con. And serves as a direct prelude to the Night Predators one shot due out in 2009. We'll also have some pages on hand from the upcoming Bushi:Warrior Caste#3, so you'll get a sneek peek at what's to come. In other news, Core Studios will be producing a special cover for an upcoming Tezlon collected edition of issues 1-2, and we'll keep you posted on when that is available. So, until next month take it easy! Roberto A
{August '08 Update}Wow, summer is winding down fast, but what a summer it's been! Major comic book characters coming to life on the screen and breaking records no less, ie Iron Man and Batman: The Dark Knight. Sadly I'm a little behind in my movie watching, but rest assured I'll be catching up before this months up. By all accounts the summer convention season has been great, many of our fellow creators have had a blast. And now we're heading into fall for the last few conventions of the year. Due to our major workload we've only made one show (Motor City Comic Con) but are attending the Xcape Con 2 this coming November. So, be on the lookout for us there as we present Bushi:Warrior Caste#2 and unveil Night Predators! This is one preview you won't want to miss as it's being released as a limited convention exclusive just for Xcape Con 2!!! The preview will serve as a prologue to the upcoming Night Predators one shot due out in 2009. And is written by Kurt A. Krug with pencils by Breathe Again Entertainments' head honcho,Terrell Culbert. Definetly a must have! And speaking of Breathe Again, I'll be involved in a project with Mr.Culbert, the details of which I can't say just yet. But it's gonna be sweet:) Anyway, enjoy the remaining vestiges of summer and I'll see you all in 30! Best,Roberto A.
{July'08 Update}In light of recent events, I wanted to comment on the passing of Michael Turner. I had only learned about Michael passing Saturday morning from a bulletin on myspace. At first I wasn't sure it was real until I clicked the link to one of the comic book news sites. It was a shock to say the least and I'm sadden much like everyone else. Mr.Turner was one of the few artist that have influenced me. And sadly I'll never have the opportunity to meet him, it would have been an honor to have been able to. I came close once though, at last years Wizard World Chicago. I had intended to buy a print and get it autographed during one of my breaks from the Core Studios booth. At the time I saw him, he was busy with a long line of fans so I figured I'd catch him a little later when things slowed down. Unfortunatley later in the day he had either left for the day or gone out for lunch. I'm not really sure which, but while at the Aspen booth I decided to get a print of Kiani that stood out. It was one of two left but to my surprise the guy working the booth pulled out one autographed print that Michael had left behind. I imagine it was for any fan that might've missed him. At least that's my presumption. I was pretty happy about that since I had missed my chance to meet the man himself. Needless to say, it hangs framed in my studio on the wall. I will miss seeing his work, he will be missed but never forgotten. I and the rest of the Core Studios staff extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. As mentioned last month we finally have the pics from the Motor City Comic Con posted. You can check them out here Motor City Pics In other Core Studios related news, Bushi co-creator Tony Davis is back in the lab working on some new Bushi art. Featuring new design concepts by Bushi artist Darryl Anderson, so you know this combo will be hot! And work has begun on the upcoming Night Predators preview. Details can't be given as yet, but it'll be nice. See ya in 30! Best,Roberto A.
{June'08 Update}This years Motor City Comic Con had a really great turn out, and we ran into a lot of old friends. Dispite an unfortunate production problem on the printers end due to circumstances beyond their control we only had a limited amount of copies of Bushi:Warrior Caste#2. What copies we did have were brought up very quickly, and we should have substantialy more copies on hand for Xcape con2. That said, we had the joy of running across some old friends we hadn't seen in a very long time. An old friend, Paulino Benavides and his crew Novic Inc, made their first official comic book convention appearance. By all accounts they did well, and I'm happy for them. We also contributed to my good friend Terrell Culberts' Comic Book Nation interview as seen here: cbn- The Ironmen of self Publishing part 2
You'll also see us in his upcoming documentary The Ironmen of Selfpublishing. To keep up with CBN check out Terrell's BreathAgain Entertainment on myspace. I have to admit, I'm not one for public interviews, but since Terrell is a good friend I went ahead and did it. Overall the show was one great big blast, and we look forward to returning to it next year. Stay tuned for pics from the con, they'll be coming soon! Roberto A. {May'08 Update}It's Motor City Comic Con time again! And that means you'll find Darryl Anderson and myself in attendance with hot off the press copies of Bushi:Warrior Caste#2! {JAN/FEB'08}Welcome back!!! It's Febuary 2008 and yes, I'm a little behind on updating. But, when one is sick, what can you do:) Anyway, we're back to work after a much needed break and some major rescheduling of release dates for upcoming projects. Fans of Bushi:Warrior Caste will be happy to know that issue#2 is slated for release at the Motor City Comic Con in May! And issue#3 is currently in production as I speak. Our initial projection for a ShadowStorm release in late '08 is tentative and the title may be pushed back to an early '09 release. I will definetly keep everyone posted on any changes. Our primary goal this year is to definetly get our titles back on a regular steady production schedule. And barring any further family/personal emergencies we should be able to do it. That said, we've had to cancel out on appearing at Wizard World Chicago for the first time ever. It was not an easy decision as we love our fans out there but in an effort to get Bushi and the other projects completed we had to bow out. Not to worry though, we will be present for the spring/fall Motor City Comic Con and possibly Xcape Con 2! And in other news, Core Studios is participating in Dark Elf Designs first ever swimsuit special. So you'll get a peek at some new and farmiliar characters from the Core universe. I've also produced a hot Dreamweaver swimsuit pin up for the swimsuit special and will soon be resuming my penciling chores on that particular title in the near future. Finally, I'll be getting a bit 2 crazy with a Hot All Girl Gang War pin up for Cold Core Comics and then getting lost in the world of Tezlon with a Jack pin-up that's not to be missed! Anyway, in parting there will be lots of new and exciting things happening this year with us and Dark Elf Designs. So strap yourselves in and enjoy the ride! Best,Roberto
{DECEMBER UPDATE'07}Seasons Greetings!!!The holidays have arrived and we at Core Studios wish everyone much happiness and joy with your loved ones. Due to the holidays we've shut down operations for a much needed break which did effect the release of Bushi:Warrior Caste#2. But not to worry, it will be coming out in the very near future. In the meantime if you were among the few to purchase the mini preview at the cons, you know issue two is gonna be good! That said, we're definetly looking to have things back on track for '08. Core Studios wil be involved with Dark Elf Designs upcoming swimsuit special which will feature characters from our current title and some upcoming titles too. Also be on the lookout for some special pin-up art being produced for Tezlon andAll Girl Gang War by yours truly. In the meantime enjoy the holidays and join us back here for 2008 as we return with renewed energy and some hot new works!!! Roberto A.
{NOVEMBER UPDATE'07}Welcome to our November update, we had a pretty enjoyable time at Xcape con over the weekend. For being a show that was put together in the space of two months it went off well. Most people were pleased with the show and there was a lot of networking and reunions amongst the comic creators. Our hats off to Dark Elf Designs' Brian Germain and the other people who helped put together the show! Be sure to check the forums for pics from Xcape con!!! Best,Roberto A.
{OCTOBER'07}Countdown to Xcape Con1, a mere 26 days away and Core Studios will be in the house! There will be plenty of stuff on hand for the fans, The Bushi Chicago Special (reprinting the sold out Bushi#0),Bushi:Warrior Caste#1, limited copies of the mini Bushi#2 preview, (tentatively Bushi:Warrior Caste#2, should it arrive in time from the printer),The ShadowStorm Preview and limited edition ShadowStorm poster! Some select original art for sell and Bushi creator Roberto Armstrong and artist Darryl Anderson will also be doing sketches. Xcape Con1 is definetly a show you will not want to miss especially with the Refuge Rock Aftershow featuring live bands! For more information check this link Xcape Con 1 Best,Roberto A.
{SEPTEMBER'07}Welcome to our rather late September update, which normaly would have been done at the start of the month. But yours truly had just recently moved coming off of our Wizard World Chicago trip. And dealing with a family emergency which was touch and go for awhile, things ended up coming out good. Of course in the midst of all that, production on our various projects had to be put on hold while I dealt with that situation. Ultimately,we've been playing catch up, which has been doing our fans a disservice. So the decision has been made to hold off on any more releases for the rest of this year. Much like D.C. comics' All-Star Batman, we'll be suspending any further solicitations of Bushi until we get the series caught up and to prevent our other projects from suffering a similar situation. Bushi#2 will debut this November in time for X-cape con, so if you live in Birchrun MI or the surrounding area you'll want to attend this comic con as it's the first in 20 yrs for that region of Michigan! Although we won't be dropping any titles for the remainder of this year, we'll still have plenty of things to share and offer sneak peeks at some of the other projects in development on our message boards. Check back regulary here and on our myspace page for the latest news! On another note, the Wizard World Con was loads of fun as always and the advanced preview of Bushi#2 sold very well. We had the privilege of doing several portfolio reviews and meeting some very talented artist, some of whom will be producing some work for us. 2008 will definetly be a year to watch!!! As always here are some pics from Wizard World Chicago Best,Roberto A.
{AUGUST'07}Core Studios is dropping a surprise on con goers at the upcoming Wizard World Chicago convention taking place this week, August 9th through August 12th. So, for those fans who can't wait til September for Bushi:Warrior Caste#2 this is your chance to get a peek at the upcoming issue! See details here--->Comic Book Signing So, if you happen to live in the Flint area stop by and catch us! Until next month,Roberto A.
{JUNE'07}After a 2 week period of rest we're back! The Motor City Comic Con was great!!! The entire Bushi creative team was on hand for the con and we had a good time. Even better, the ShadowStorm Limited Edition posters arrived in time for the first day of the show. Many autographs were signed and books and posters sold. We socialized with fellow creators and up and coming artist looking for advise. We also got to hang out with a few of our fellow Dark Elf members and our friends at Cold Core Studios. The convention also sparked an idea, specificly all the cosplay fans running around. So having said that, yeah, Core Studios is putting on a Bushi: Warrior Caste costume contest!!! And the winner will recieve autographed copies of issue 1 & 2, plus an original piece of art by each member of the creative team and a cameo in an issue of Bushi! Details for the contest can be found in our forums in the Contest section of the board! Be sure to check out the News & Updates board for an expanded version of this update featuring pics from the show! See ya in 30!!! Roberto A.
{MAY'07}It's Motor City Comic Con time again!!! And officialy the start of the con season for Core Studios. The entire Bushi:Warrior Caste creative team will be on hand for the con with co-creator Tony Davis making an apperance Saturday. So, this will be everyones chance to get the entire creative crews signatures on their copies of Bushi:Warrior Caste#1! We would like to mention that due to some technical glitches with our printers we won't have copies of the Limited Edition ShadowStorm poster available at the con. However, we do hope to have the poster available at a later date. On a brighter note, anyone in attendance at the show may be lucky enough to catch a look at some of the pencilled pages for the upcoming Bushi:Warrior Caste#2 and the upcoming DreamWeaver #0 and ShadowStorm#1!!! So, be sure to stop by the Core Studios booth to say hello and pick up copies of Bushi and the ShadowStorm Preview! See ya in five!!! Roberto A.
{APRIL'07}With a month and a few weeks to go, the Motor City Comic Con is fast approaching! And Core Studios', Tony Davis,Darryl Anderson and Roberto Armstrong will all be in attendance. And now for news you've all been waiting for regarding two of our future projects which set the stage for the Core universe, ShadowStorm and Night Predators!!! First up, the ShadowStorm Preview will be having an encore debut at the Motor City Comic Con and Wizard World Chicago this year to generate buzz for the first issue which is tenatively looking at a late 2007 early 2008 release. And although originally intended to coincide with the release of the first issue, the Limited Edition ShadowStorm poster will be released at the upcoming Motor City Con with the ShadowStorm preview! It's definetly a HOT piece!!! And now a little info regarding Night Predators. The book will explore the darker side of the Core universe and will definetly be rooted in the same time frame as ShadowStorm. So,needless to say there will be some mention of events or places that take place in both titles respectively. Night Predators centers on the return of a super natural race of energy syphons known as The Afterlife. And the ultra covert black ops agency D.O.M.I.N.O's efforts to deal with them, more specificly one agent in particular, Kinte Jones. A man who has encounterd these beings one time before....Night Predators is set to debut this fall as a special preview to the one shot coming out in 2008! So be sure to keep an eye out for it and check the Night Predators section of the forum for news and updates on this title! Hasta próximo tiempo, Roberto A.
{MARCH'07}As mentioned a few short months ago, I announced that I'd be working on one of Dark Elf Designs titles, Dreamweaver. And as of this month my penciling duties have officially begun. I'm happy to say the inital reaction to the first few pages I've churned out for Dreamweaver#0 have been met with great enthusiasm. And the special variant piece I did a short while back has definetly made an impression. As for Dreamweaver, it's the story of Lauren Rainwater and her destined fate to take on the role of the Dreamweaver. The story begins in a native american burial ground located beneath the structure of a library parking garage. When the unwitting Lauren Rainwater follows the strange sounds that call to her from her unconscience, she discovers an ancient secret. One that is tied to the burial ground and her own ancestry. Taking an ancient dreamcatcher from one of the graves plunges Lauren into a battle with an ancient evil.... The creative team behind this mystical title aside from yours truly is: Norm Williams- Writer, Dreamweaver creator Brian Germain on Inks and Letters and Larry Lonsby on the colors. A talented team of creators bringing you a hot new title due out late 2007! For more news and updates on this project from Dark Elf be sure to check the forums and the Dreamweaver myspace page!!! Now as for Core Studios related news, we're currently finishing up work on issue#2 of Bushi and issue #3 is underway. We should have some info coming up on ShadowStorm and our other special project Night Predators in the near future, So stay tuned!!! Roberto A.

Be sure to check back frequently for additional news, until next time...Roberto A
{JANUARY'07}First off, let me say Happy New Year to everyone!!! We've got some special things in store for 2007. Due to several factors beyond our control production on Bushi#2 was delayed late last year. However for 2007 you can expect both issue 2 and issue 3 of Bushi to be simultaneously released together and we'll be posting up preview pages of Bushi#2 later this month. We are also pleased to announce the return of Bushi co-creator Tony Davis to the studio. You can expect to see Tony's pencils gracing future covers of Bushi in the coming months. On another note, we'll have more news on the upcoming ShadowStorm series as we get further into 2007. As well as a few other special projects in the works. We hope you all join us for what's shaping up to be a great year! Until next time,Roberto A.
{DECEMBER UPDATE}Happy Holidays and Seasons Greetings!!! As we swiftly approach Chirstmas and the end of 2007, we'd like to thank everyone for their continued support. We realize our publishing schedule has been a little off target and such is the nature of small press publishing. However, we do intend to make it up to all our fans come 2007. We've got some special announcments and things in store for the new year. And having said that, for starters in January expect to see a sneak peek at Bushi:Warrior Caste#2!!! We'll also have more news on the upcoming ShadowStorm series, if you haven't gotten the preview special now's the time to do so! That said, we look forward to seeing everyone in the new year and wish you a Merry Christmas from all of us at Core Studios!!! Roberto A.
{NOVEMBER UPDATE}As we rapidly enter the onset of the holiday season, we at Core Studios are steadily moving along with lots and lots of special surprises for 2007. What these surprises are, we can't reveal at the moment. But, we're sure you'll like them:D On the Bushi front, issue #2 is slowly but surely getting done. We do sincerely apologize to all our fans for the delay. We had hoped to have issue two ready this month, but due to some unforseen events progress was slowed down. However, we can assure everyone, the wait for issue two will definetly be worth it! On another Bushi related tid-bit, Terrell Culbert of Colr Core Comics turned in an outstanding cover for Bushi#3, that has got to be seen. I can confidently say, you're gonna love it! As mentioned a short while ago, there is a Limited Edition ShadowStorm poster in the works (which features the entire team). The pencils and inks are by ShadowStorm creator Roberto Armstrong with colors by Nepo (Bushi:Warrior Caste) Leal! Originaly intended for a December release, it has now been pushed back to coincide with the debut of ShadowStorm#1 in 2007! I, myself spent time talking with people about the book and other comic related topics. One unexpected scenario that popped up was portfolio reviews, which we were very flattered to do. And from the stuff we reviewed you just might see some new faces associated with Core Studios in the near future.
As for the Bushi Chicago Special,Bushi wave one and two poster series, all did well at the con. Although the Scarlet Dawn and Karoi posters (all three versions) were the crowd faves.
